My 2015 Yearend Review: The Feast

Episode 39 – Monday, December 28th, 2015 (6936)feast review 2015

As the year 2015 nearly ends, I just want to review the happenings that I had experienced in the past 12 months. I’ll discuss and summarize my experiences about The Feast.

When the New Year 2015 started, I was so grateful to continue attending and serving The Feast at Central Mall Biñan. Saturday (Sabado) Feast Biñan (SFB) was my pastime to receive blessings and abundance from the Lord thru builder Bro. Andreus Cosio. Within most of the times when I attended, I also served for Media Ministry as a visual operator that I’ve been since late 2013.

In the first three months of 2015, there were the greatest times that I had ever seen in my life. The visit of Pope Francis in the Philippines last January, the second anniversary of SFB and Kerygma Lenten Recollection (KLR): Lost were the big events happened. The latter two events were present for me because I was the one to serve in Media, and it was a privilege for me, not only as an attendee, to serve in such a big event.

One of my biggest challenges at The Feast was serving (as visual operator) at KLR last April 4th where Bro. Bo Sanchez, the founder of Light of Jesus Family, was present to speak out his inspirations and his words from the Lord. This was my first time to serve where he was at the stage.    This year’s KLR was extraordinary and bigger compared to the past KLR that I had attended (in 2013 and 2014). It was held for 3 days (within Holy Week) at Enchanted Kingdom Tent (which is a big venue), and it was jam-packed with lots of attendees.

After the KLR event, I continued to attend and to serve at SFB, and it was a perfect time for me to attend Saturday nights (because I hated to stay whole day at home every weekends and during my rest days). However, right before June 2015, I was the one to be saddened when the place (in Central Mall) where Feast Biñan was located for few years would be replaced by a new tenant. It meant the Saturday (Sabado) Feast Biñan (as well as Sunday Feast by Bro. Jon Escoto) would be either transferred to a smaller place inside the mall or disbanded by replacing a new schedule in a new place. In the remaining weeks of SFB, Bro. Dreus Cosio and other head servants discussed about the move. They thought about the new place for us where it was too small to accommodate the attendees, and the session might be divided into two in a different day (which would be Sunday). However, on the last day of SFB, Bro. Dreus announced that we would move to a movie theater of SM City Santa Rosa every Sunday mornings (beginning last June 14th). This might be a temporary, but we’re so blessed that we could accommodate many attendees (it’s a bigger place).

However, because of security reasons, I could not go to SM City Santa Rosa where there are lots of crowded people around, and my “enemies” might probably spot me around the mall. That was one of my fears that I couldn’t encounter. I told to some of my close friends at The Feast that I had to temporarily halt my attending and serving at The Feast due of personal security reasons. And my absence at The Feast happened just in time after my long distance relationship (LDR) to my textmate was broken up after three long years which made me so heartbroken, miserable and alone.

Since the Feast Biñan was moved to become Feast SM Sta. Rosa and the break-up of LDR, I had never attended The Feast for a long time (except for one Sunday in July where I just attended The Feast after the incident at home which made me so upset and almost crying, feeling alone). And for 2-3 months of my absence, I felt so alone and depressed especially being heartbroken. But my absence came to be end when Sis Tess, one of the members of Media Ministry, contacted me thru text messages about my love problem.

On September 6, I attended Sunday Feast at SM Sta. Rosa for the only second time actually, but it was my first time to serve for Media Ministry in a bigger venue. I met Sis Tess with some new friends in the ministry to share my experiences about the recent break-up, and they gave me some advices to make me strength. Since then, my comeback at The Feast enlightened me to attend and to serve again for the Lord despite of “tightened” security and crowded people gathering around inside the mall. And it was a perfect time for me, in just two months after my comeback, to serve at this year’s Kerygma Conference (KCON).

At KCON 2015, I was the one of the lucky volunteers as servants to attend in a discounted price. But attending and serving the biggest inspirational gathering in the country wasn’t easy one. While I and other servants were so ready for the preparation to serve on the first day of KCON, there was a major and last minute announcement thru e-mails, Facebook, and text messages that KCON 2015 was effectively postponed due of APEC Summit which was eventually held in Manila for days (locking down all the areas surrounding the summit including Mall of Asia complex in Pasay City). The four-day of the event was reduced into two on weekends (right after the APEC), and the talks presented by the well-respected speakers were compressed to fit the revised schedule. We’re assigned to serve on the Thursday (the first day with the first three talks) supposedly when the postponement was made. But we’re still blessed because we had enough time to prepare.

On Saturday, November 21st, we had a long whole day to attend and to serve at the KCON 2015: Coming Home. We started to go at Mall of Asia in Pasay at the early morning then we attended some talks of our choice. In the afternoon, we’re ready to set up serving within three talks (including the one with Bro. Bo Sanchez and his wife, Marlowe) at one of the function rooms in SMX Convention Center. Although we’re so tired for the whole day event, we’re so happy with satisfaction to be the part of this year’s KCON.

Just recently, last December 16th, after almost 14 months of my disappearance, I finally attended Wednesday Feast (Festival) Alabang led by Bro. Jonathan “J” Yogawin. I joined with my Feast friend, Earl together with his friend, Dennis, to attend the final Wednesday Feast of 2015.

It was so great for me to have wonderful times to attend and to serve at The Feast this year. Whether in ordinary Feast sessions every weekend or big events like Recollection and KCON, I was so happy to be the part of this Catholic prayer gathering that I first discovered in 2013. Although there’s some times that I was not in good mood to attend or to serve, I remain positive to have been blessed by the Lord thru giving my prayer request and receiving answered prayers (as I always go to St. Clare Monastery in Cabuyao thru my biking exercise every other Saturday morning).

For my wishes in 2016, I and most other servants and attendees are still hoping and praying to have a mass before the Feast session (the mass had not been held since after Saturday Feast Biñan was dissolved) and to accommodate more attendees up to 600 or even more to fill up inside the movie theater.

I really thank The Feast for the wonderful, inspirational and spiritual advices and values that taught and shared in this 2015. I’m praying to have more blessings and more abundance to come in my life for 2016 thru the Feast and from our Lord.
